Day 1

Arrival in Ottawa. Overnight in hotel of your choice.

Day 2

Depart Ottawa for Iqaluit by jet. Transfer planes for Qikiqtarjuaq. Fly over Auyuittuq National Park, keeping an eye out for Mt. Asgard and Mt. Thor, which boast the world’s tallest vertical cliffs at over 5000 feet.

On arrival, transfer to a local cruiser boat and thread your way past small Arctic islands, watching for polar bears as you pass, to your upscale base camp.

Days 3-7

From the Pebble Beach base camp you will experience the true essence of the Arctic summer.

This is the ultimate time of year to view polar bears and bowhead whales from your base surrounded by islands and steep walled fiords. In past trips we’ve seen more than 20 polar bears on the boat ride from Qikiqtarjuaq to base camp alone!

Travel by boat down the long and deep fiords including Coronation and North Pangnirtung Fiord with sheer walls thousands of feet high on each side.

Bowhead whales, the largest whale in Canadian waters, are known to frequent the open waters about a 30-minute boat ride from camp.

Enjoy a day trip to Ashuyuk Pass in one of Canada’s most beautiful National Parks. You can hike at the base of North Pangnirtung Fiord among braided streams that flow from the pass. Visit Dorset (Inuit ancestors) ruins about an hour’s boat ride south along Baffin Island. Hike at the Penny Ice Cap Glacier sweeping down into Coronation Fiord. Relax and absorb the long Arctic sunset hanging on the horizon.

All this from your upscale base camp near the most picturesque lakes and boulder strewn rivers, with the world’s purest water. While in camp, pick blueberries or try fishing for Arctic char.
