NGAPACK
- COMMON INITIATIVE GROUP
(www.ngapack.tk)
NGAPACK is a non governmental organization for the promotion
of farming collectives, providing information about
opportunities and alternatives to poverty reduction
and self-employment.
The agricultural sector
in Cameroon is both an opportunity and challenge. Subsistence
farming is predominant and is based on traditional practices
and on family and group labor. Only a limited portion
of produce is available for the market, warranting the
creation of this collective.
From 2002 to
2006, a total of 50 hectares of palm oil production
and 10 hectares of cocoa production projects have been
farmed by this group. With support, NGAPACK hopes to
add another 200 hectares by 2008.
