Kenya Maasai Mara Service Safari Day 1: Mara Safari Arrive into Nairobi and transfer to Wilson Airport for the flight to Maasai Mara, where you will be met by Maasai guides for the drive to Basecamp Mara, one of only two camps in Kenya to be awarded the gold rating by the Ecotourism Society of Kenya.
Accommodation at Basecamp Mara comprises of 12 tents (one family unit) set along the banks of the Talek River. All tents are spacious, en-suite (outdoor showers and dry eco-toilets), and have private balconies. At the camp, enjoy lunch and later depart in a 4x4 vehicle for a wildlife adventure safari on with your Maasai guide.

Day 2: Community Volunteering Depart on a morning walking safari with a Maasai naturalist guide, returning for breakfast. Enjoy a guided tour of the camp’s sustainable tourism practices before departing on a visit of Basecamp Foundation’s community projects such as schools, health centers, and tree planting.
After a picnic lunch, begin work on your volunteer project. In the evening return to the camp. Dinner and overnight at Basecamp Mara.
Day 3: Community Volunteering After breakfast, proceed for a full day of volunteering.

Kenya Maasai Mara Service Safari Day 7: Mara-Nairobi Wake for breakfast and transfer to the airstrip for a morning flight to Nairobi.
Arrive in Wilson Airport and transfer to a hotel in Nairobi. Check in and lunch. Afternoon at leisure. Dinner and overnight Nairobi.
Day 8: Nairobi-Departure After breakfast, check out of hotel and set off for a full day city tour. Enjoy an early dinner and transfer to Jomo Kenyatta International Airportyou’re your return flight home.

About Basecamp Community Support Over 90% of camp staff are from the local community. Your safari empowers and enriches the community within which the camps are operated. In addition to this, Basecamp Foundation supports community empowerment projects through the Koyiaki Guiding School, the only guiding school in Mara, as well as two clinics, water projects, school upgrading, and micro-finance projects for women. Fair-trade The Basecamp Maasai Brand (BMB) supports 118 women from the local community in developing and retailing their exquisite beaded merchandise. BMB is a provisional member of WFTO. Visit the workshop at Basecamp Maasai Mara and support women with new designs, or stop by the gift shop where you will find unique BMB gifts. You can become a BMB CSR partner by ordering your company gifts from BMB. Conservation Basecamp Foundation coordinates various conservation projects such as wildlife conservation projects for cheetah, elephant, lion, and other species. They do this in partnership with reputable organizations like the Danish Zoological Society, Elephant Partners, Dyperken Zoo (Norway), and Living with Lions among others. There are several activities that visitors can engage in to support the conservation projects. Climate Change and Sustainable Energy Basecamp is committed to using sustainable energy sources through educating members of the local community as solar technicians and the use of solar energy. Leave a Positive Footprint Reduce your carbon footprint by planting trees at Basecamp Mara; support community outreach projects aimed at empowering school children through scholarships; and improve the livelihoods of local communities through health centers and water supply projects. All plastic is collected and transported for recycling off-site and biodegradable waste is converted to compost for the vegetable garden.
